The UK probably grows some of the finest strawberries in the world, but strawberry jam is one of the most difficult to get a good set due to the low pectin and acid content of the fruit. Jam Packed hand pick the strawberries throughout the season and cook the fruit within 2 hours of picking so that the quality of the fruit doesn’t deteriorate. They will also cut the fruit as little as possible so that you will find whole pieces or even whole strawberries within the jam. Truly yummy, and completely acceptable to have a spoonful or two on its own!
All of Jam Packed jams are extra jams, having more fruit than your typical supermarket brands. An extra jam has to have a minimum of 45g fruit per 100g product and must be made from whole fruit. The jams are made seasonally from using only hand-picked, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.
Storage: Jams have a best before date one year from the date of production and will be fine kept in a cupboard, larder or other cool, dark, dry place for many months; once opened they should be refrigerated and used within 3-4 weeks.
Ingredients: Strawberries, sugar, freshly squeezed lemon juice, pectin, butter
Allergens: Milk, gluten free
Jam Packed Preserves is a family run business. They make an extensive range of artisan, award-winning extra jams, jellies, marmalades, chutneys and curds. All preserves are lovingly hand-stir in small batches in open pans. The story began in 2006. From an allotment that had a large stand of autumn raspberries that produced a glut of fruit. Wanting to avoid food waste Sue telephoned her Mum and asked how to make jam. The rest is history!
