Blackcurrants grow well throughout the northern hemisphere and used to grow wild in the UK. They are full of vitamin C and make a firm set jam that is full of flavour. Jam Packed hand pick their fruit from two local fruit farms in Esher, Surrey and Hartley Wintney, Hampshire. This preserve is great spread on toast or with scones and cream, but also makes a lovely accompaniment to cheese.
All of Jam Packed jams are extra jams, having more fruit than your typical supermarket brands. An extra jam has to have a minimum of 45g fruit per 100g product and must be made from whole fruit. The jams are made seasonally from using only hand-picked, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.
Storage: Jams have a best before date one year from the date of production and will be fine kept in a cupboard, larder or other cool, dark, dry place for many months; once opened they should be refrigerated and used within 3-4 weeks.
Ingredients: Blackcurrants, sugar, freshly squeezed lemon juice, water.
Allergy Information: suitable for gluten free, vegans, lactose free.
Jam Packed Preserves is a family run business. They make an extensive range of artisan, award-winning extra jams, jellies, marmalades, chutneys and curds. All preserves are lovingly hand-stir in small batches in open pans. The story began in 2006. From an allotment that had a large stand of autumn raspberries that produced a glut of fruit. Wanting to avoid food waste Sue telephoned her Mum and asked how to make jam. The rest is history!
