Online Farmers' Market 'Plough' hosted the first farmer's market in Mayford on Saturday 19 June 2021. The market was held at 'The Yard Space'; a beautiful, 10 acre farm site on Smarts Heath Road.
Around 30 stalls and pop-ups trucks from local and county wide artisan producers - from food and drink, to cards and candles - joined the market to welcome marketgoers from 10am-3pm.
The family friendly market partnered with children's charity Momentum, who support families across Surrey, West Sussex and SW London who are facing a life-challenging condition. QR codes dotted around the market allowed for contactless donations to me made.
Two local musicians provided the sound track to the market - Guildford based duo 'All That Folk' and Guildford guitarist Seb Guettier. Classic cars including a 1937 Packard Straight Eight Limousine were also on display to admire.
David Walton - founder of Plough said; "We're delighted to have held our first Plough farmers' market in Mayford. After months of planning and coordination, the feedback from our guests and stall holders was hugely positive; with many already asking us when the next market will be! We started Plough, our family run, online farmers' market in the first Lockdown to support local, independent food and drink producers who were severely impacted by everything closing; cafes, shops and even markets. We created a new online website for small, Surrey producers to sell from, with everything from Breakfast Boxes to Afternoon Tea and offered doorstep deliveries direct to customer's homes and businesses. The market was a natural next step for Plough to support our producers, and our farm-site HQ made the perfect backdrop for it."
Tracey Carter from Eden Greens, Microgreen Urban Farm in Woking said "It was such a beautiful market - great venue, wonderful music, lovely selection of stalls and just a great atmosphere all round! I can't wait for the next one!"
Plough will now be reviewing all of the feedback from the market, to shape the plans for future markets. For the latest on dates visit www.plough.market and follow Plough on @plough_produce.
